At Radiance Family Day Homes, the day home providers are Educators.

With Early Childhood Education training, and the support and monthly supervision of certified Day Homes Consultants, Radiance Family Day Home Educators offer children a safe and caring environment where they play, learn and grow.

You can expect your Day Home Educator to:

  • Organize experiences that promote learning across all developmental domains:
    physical, social, emotional, creative and intellectual

  • Have an inclusive approach and foster all types of diversity

  • Plan schedules, routines and transitions with built in flexibility

  • Monitor children’s individual growth and development

  • Provide healthy meals that follow Canada’s Food Guide

  • Limit media viewing to a half hour per day

  • Have daily outdoor play

With 65 day homes in the community, we can offer a trustworthy, quality and well-rounded childcare option close to your home or workplace. Radiance Family Day Homes currently has day homes with open spaces in all 4 quadrants of the city, as well as Airdrie and High River.

How do you go about choosing the right childcare option for your little one?

There is a lot of information regarding childcare and it can be overwhelming. Let us help you understand what your options are so that you can make an informed decision.

Private (Unlicensed) Family Day Homes:

  • Can provide care for up to 6 children, aged 0 to 12 years not including the family’s own children. There is no age ratio requirement.

  • Do not have regulations regarding facilities, food or activities pertaining to the children and minimum qualifications or first aid training for the provider.

  • Are not inspected or monitored.

  • Enforcement is complaint-based.

Day Home Program Licensed by an Agency:

  • Are approved by an Agency that has a contract with the Government of Alberta to run Family Day Homes.

  • Can provide care up to 6 children aged 0 to 12 years, not including the Educator’s own children. The limit includes maximum 3 children less than 36 months of age, of which only two can be less than 24 months, including the Educator’s own children.

  • Educators are required to meet the Government of Alberta Standards. Standards mandate criminal record checks with vulnerable sector search for the Educator and her family, including renters/boarders living in the home; First Aid training; appropriate early childhood training and qualifications.

  • Are monitored monthly for programming, nutrition, safety, quality, child and Educator interactions, child guidance, and health.

  • Allow eligible families to receive Government subsidy.

Each of Radiance Family Day Homes’ programs meets and exceeds the Government of Alberta standards in health, safety, nutrition, learning and care programming. Day Home Educators have Early Childhood education and enjoy ongoing training to be able to provide quality care to children.
